I'm going...first time ever! Some other local Mopar guys and I are all driving down. We'll have a '72 Scamp, '69 Dart, '69 300 Convertible and '65 Barracuda.

Anyone going?

I wish I could,Neil, but it's a bit far away for me. I have a Mopar friend in Brighton that wants me to fly out and drive down with him.

I might be coming back to Victoria in November with my wife (her work sends her..hotel is free I just have to come up with my own air fare). She was looking at rates today, they're not too bad right now, $600 round trip.

As of right now, YES, I will have my car there. Black '65 Barracuda with red interior, skull shifter knob. :-) I won't have my cell with me, it's Moparfest man...no cell phone!

Hopefully I'll see you there. Will you have your car?

Well, it was a good weekend. I drove down on Friday with 7 other cars from the Ottawa area, it was great to see 8 cars cruising down the road. '65 Barracuda, '70 Road Runner, '69 300 convertible, '68 Hemi Charger, '69 Dart Custom, '72 Dart Swinger, '64 Sport Fury, '69-70? Fury III.

Moparfest is rather small compared to the Carlisle show, but good nonetheless. It's different.

There are hardly any vendors but most people agree it's growing a lot compared to years past. Layson's, Mopar Collectors Guide, National Moparts and a couple of other noteworthy vendors were there along with a handful of people selling used parts, but I didn't buy anything, unlike my usual habits at Carlisle.

The car field is much different. There are no categories for cars, you just park based on order of arrival. This is good and bad. If you want to find specific cars it's difficult, but if you arrive in convoy with your friends all driving different cars, you get to park together and put up a little tent a chairs and hang out, which is what we did.

It's also nice because you have to walk the whole field to find a specific car, and I got to see cars I wouldn't normally go looking for at Carlisle. For example, right near us there was a radical Import style Neon or something with a plexiglass hood and all kinds of cool radical expensive stuff on it. A 1948 Dodge survivor, all kinds of Canadian version early Valiants (look like an early Dart), Fargos, trucks, finned cars...stuff like that. Stuff that I would never bother to walk and go see at Carlisle and lots of Canadian content. A nearby arena holds about 20 invitational show cars including 3 beautiful '40's woodies, a Viperized Cuda and a cool Fargo firetruck.

At 5pm on Saturday the show shuts down, you all go back to your Motel and do whatever...so it helps to be there with a group. We hung out a lot around the parking lot and had long meals in nearby restaurants. Sunday we just did the same. Lots of hanging out talking. I met up with some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time, and met some new ones. Then 3 of us drove back together, not sure where everyone else ended up.

It was a 100% car weekend. Talk about cars and things related to cars....no stress, no worries, just a good time but a little short.
