Hi, was wondering if anyone has tried the Layson's repair panels for the rear wheel opening area.}

His story says he bought used panels for his car, not the Layson's repair panels. Has anyone tried these?

Really? I just read "I purchased new rear 1/4 panels and installed them." in Rogers story.

I remember seeing a photo of them after being welded, he emailed it to the mailing list. Could have been used panels, NEW to him I guess.

I recall someone else saying they're not perfect. Are they still available from Laysons?

I reread the story and yes it did say new 1/4 panels, sorry. Laysons still lists them.

They still have 'em...and they're in stock...as of early April. I visited their warehouse on the way to the Portland Swap Meet this year. I got the grand tour ,by none other than Rick Keesler hisself! They had at least 30 of each panel sitting on the shelf, ready to ship. They also had new stuff that isn't in their catalog yet. Their repro '65 Barracuda/Valiant taillight housings are yummie!!!

My best advice is to buy a perfect car for too much money. I have close to 2 spools of mig wire in my car, it's a good thing I like it so much. I did both sides, the bottom of one door, rebuilt two edges of the trunk lid and the tops of both front fenders. My other pics are too big to come through and I'm no good at resizing (I'm a car guy!). I can email them direct if you want.

Mojack...yes if you have any more pictures i would like to see them. My e-mail is jamesoverlie@hotmail.com My car is a '65 "S" that i bought new off the showroom floor in Cedar Falls Iowa from a long ago gone dealership. It's pretty solid except for the rear wheel area on both sides. I'm thinking of springing for the Kelsey tires repo Bluestreak tires while they are still available. Don't know how many they will sell at that price though! (still cheaper than your typical fancy wheel/tire combos you see on getto machines!)

James, I'm very impressed that you are the original owner of a Barracuda! There just aren't very many of you out there!

Do you have photos?

It's not much to look at currently. Just sitting in my garage. Still has original paint, (white with stripe delete). Black Interior removed, awaiting the body work and paint. (i have a new stock set of seat covers). It is a four speed car with a 7 1/4 rear with sure grip! (thought manual shift cars were 8 3/4, guess i got shorted in that dept. Can't wait to see it all painted up again with Blue Streak tires! It hasn't seen those kind of tires since 1967!
