Have a 64 273 auto trans. Any idea what cost for a rebuild or just changing seals on leaky trans. Does this trans need to be repaired by any good shop or a specialist shop dealing only in old cars. Any info would be appreciated. Got a quote over the phone for leaky trans $800-1000. It sounds high??? |

I think if they are pulling the trans out to fix the front seal and other leaks with a new filter and fluid that could be the close to 800. I would say any trans shop could work on your 3 speed but I would shop around a bit or ask around at a car club for where they take there stuff to. |

I used the shop manual and thought myself how to rebuild them. The special tools needed I am able too make. Parts cost around $250. Takes about three weekends. |
